I have a small farm in N.W Kansas and I have been looking for a deer to raise as a pet. My wife and I love animals and have wanted one since last year when we rescued one from a trap. It's mother was standing about 30 yards away and when we released it, it ran to her no worse for the wear. We would give it a great home so please let me know more about prices and age, etc. Thank you.

Where can I get a Muntjac? I have been searching on the Internet for about a year. I just keep running into EX-breeders, and they don't respond to my email requests for referrals to any other breeders. I will go anywhere they are in order to 'adopt' one to bring home!

As a wildlife rehabilitator I have delt with many white tail fawns. People need to be warned that a deer is born with soft hooves which harden in about one week. I am concerned with a deer as a pet as I have been kicked by a 20 pound deer and was cut like a razor blade thru the elbow and received 90 stitches. I would have to assume the
smaller deer would have to have a lot of attention paid to their hooves. Think twice before you consider one as a pet.

Many people raise whitetails as a farm animal and they do not get hurt because they are domesticated the same goes with these deer.

For such a primitive animal, these guys seem so complex! I mean, they only have 6 chromosomes, even fewer than the common fruit fly that has 8! A real genetic miracle.

Your Muntjac is as cute as ours was. Unfortunately, we did not know that in Virginia they are illegal and considered a threat. Last month the Department of Game raided our property and seized our three Muntjacs. Without any due process, our pets were killed the same day and we were threatened with arrest. We had our pets for almost 4 years and they were everything we could have wished for. Our state will not even return their bodies so we can bury them on all our acres of property.
