connor - 2009-09-02 I've hade my rose hair for about three weeks and it has been the best pet I have ever had. Her name is shananay. She is the most loveable and creepiest pet I have ever had. My favorit thing to do is to watch her hunt her pray and kill it.

I'm very excited to enjoy the company of my new friend and to watch it grow over the years. In the near future, (a year or so), I will post another comment on this page and tell stories of my time with Hesh (my rose).

Ricky - 2011-06-28 No...i wish.
emma williams - 2011-12-02 No but sometimes they lay dud eggs, how long have you had her? If you bought her recently from a pet shop she could have been mated by the breeder, and then on to the pet shop , my girl sakura dropped an egg sack 2 weeks ago but I was told she was a sub adult , she is almost 2 now, so either they were lying or she dropped a dud egg sack, spiders like g. rosea have been known 2 do that.

sarah - 2011-12-02 Hello my name is Sarah. I'm sorry to hear your spider isn't doing so well but may not be as bad as you think! Before your tarantula sheads his skin he will be a little cranky and won't eat for about a week! Also make sure your temp in the cage is right if not that would put them in a bad hybnation! If you have more symptoms just send me an e-mail would love to help you out spiders are my thing lol
Damian - 2009-01-04 I just got a chilean rose tarantula. she seems pretty docile, but I've heard that tarantulas can become aggressive through agitation, or seeing certain colors. My brother said that tarantulas become aggresive around red colors and loud noises. its been 4 weeks, she hasn't eaten any crickets or molted. I've held her a few times but not bear handed yet. she did kill a cricket though, it was nipping her feet. I dont really know a whole lot about them yet, but if anyone has some useful advice it will be appreciated.

emma williams - 2011-12-02 I find that too my rosea females do that, she's probobly mapping out her tank so she knows where to go as they are essentially blind.
sarah - 2011-12-02 Don't worry about your spider their fine! Bare handed is fine she's not going to bite you! Loud nosies yes will bother them but they would much rather run away if they do get scared they have hairs on there legs that they flick at you! They won't hurt you just annoy you! They are similer to a catus
Gary Spencer - 2009-02-27 Despite peoples beliefs, the rose hair is quite the burrower. So for all of you with 1, I urge you to put a good few inches of substrate in and a hidey hole like cork bark and watch it dig even further down under the bark, My rose hair has burrowed about 5 inches down to the bottom of her tank and is always trying to dig further down. Try it.

emma williams - 2011-11-30 All new world tarantulas from Chile, Brasil and have these urticating hairs. Urtica is old greek 4 nettle and they are not prone to bite unlike the old world species from Asia and Africa. Hope this helps .
Sharon - 2009-10-16 OMG...so we've had our rose haired tarantula since May 17, 09 and named it Vladamir under the assumption that it was a male. SHE has just now made an egg sac in her cage!!! We noticed that her abdomen had increased in size, but then so has the rest of her body, so we just assumed she was just growing naturally. She started to do some 'landscaping' in her cage a few days ago and yesterday the webbing effects started taking on an extreme increase in production and she has been amazing to watch in action. It truly is a wonderous beautiful sight. Tonight when we got home, there it was, this thick well construction sac of webbing in the bottom corner of her cage, and her abdomen is back to normal size again. So now were left with the question...what do you do with hundreds of baby tarantulas when they hatch...

destiny - 2009-12-01 Ive had my CHILEAN ROSE HAIRED TARANTULA for about 3 years and I love the heck out of her. I hold her a lot. She hasn't bitten anyone yet, and I hope she doesn't. I let some people hold her, mostly when they are sitting down. I don't want her to fall and die. But I want her forever, and hope to get a lot more tarantulas, all different kinds. I'm looking on getting the METALLIC BLUE ORNAMENTAL TREE TARANTULA! I want to learn more about them before I get her. Thanks.

emma williams - 2011-11-30 What a pokie,as they are called. Well they are very defensive and fast fast fast so I wouldnt get that one yet as you need alot of expeirience with them. Do lots of research b4 acqiuring one as thier venom is very potent.
Coqui17 - 2009-12-14 I just got my first Rose Hair and he is about 2 inches if that. I named him FANGS and he is wonderful. I also have a Pink Toe named PELUCHE but don't worry they are in different cages. I've had him for 3 months and no bites yet, they are both gorgeous.
