So do you wait for crickets that are molting and offer those? That would be very inconvenient
  • chuck - 2014-06-09
why not? I have had mine 3 years and she has had no problem with the shells.

I recently bought 3 of these from a shop in Plymouth devon called Two by Two. 2 of them were slings and one was a bit bigger the 2 smaller ones were due a molt. One of them molted fine no problems at all the humidity levels were all correct and temperatures all ok. The other small one went for a molt but never managed it and died this morning. When I explained it to the pet shop they weren't interested in it. I only had it about 4 weeks so I am seeking legal advice regarding this. I would never buy anything else from this shop be careful if you are thinking about it! Once you have bought it they just don't care.

I know what you mean the same happened to me with a theraphosa blondi. How much did your gooty cost>? Sorry about your T mate it sucks.

I know this was an old post, but I had to say, sorry to hear about your loss, but when you buy an animal such as a tarantula, you have to bear in mind that bad moults do happen sometimes. You can hardly blame the pet shop, especially when 4 weeks had passed, that's ridiculous! What could the pet shop have done to prevent a bad moult that was a month away? Not a lot really.. It's unfortunate, but just one of those things. Don't waste your money on legal action, you'll most likely lose. And if, by some miracle, you win, then the pet shop owner foots the bill for something they had no control over.

So I've had my pink toe for about a month now, I recently moved him into a new cage about a week ago and he has not eaten, just hangs out on the glass on the sides. He also hasn't made a web yet. Is this normal?

I had one as well and he wouldn't eat at all but he made a Web the second day he was in his cage. It most likely just depends on how comfor table they are.

I've had a pink toe for about five years and she pretty much stays in one corner all the time.  I think they find a spot they like and tend to just hang out there. It could be that at night when you aren't there to see, she's moving around the enclosure and then returns to her favorite spot.  A few times when I've gotten up in the middle of the night I've found her in other areas but during the day she's always in a big web she spun in a top corner.

On a side note, I saw a really cool insect exhibit at a museum in Philadelphia last summer, and a pink toe was among the tarantulas on display.  I mentioned to the curators that I had one too and they asked me if it was typical for them to just stay in one spot of the cage all the time as this particular spider did exactly that, so I suspect this is typical behavior.

I have a Pinktoe, Penelope, and I am concerned she forgot how to be a Pinktoe! I've had her since December 2015, and since then, she's only half-constructed a tube web. I keep her humidity right where it should be, and her temp is usually right around 80 degrees. Why isn't she spinning her webs? Help!

A friend of mine gave me a Texas Brown Tarantula and I been reading and saw what he eats but will he eat a lizard? He is about 3 inches big and his tank is about 12x12x24inches

They will eat small lizards, as well as crickets, grasshoppers, cockroaches, beetles, and even  pinkie mice.

    How big is the lizzard.

I love catching and raising Oklahoman Brown Tarantulas because they are so easy to catch, are very calm and doctile, and are simple to care for. I love showing off to my friends by picking up my "terrorfying" pet, OK Brown, tarantula with my bare hands and its really funny to put the tarantula in a friends face. LOL. If you want to know more about my tarantula and other "savage" pets email me at lonexwolf98@yahoo.com or visit my website at www.lonexwolf.webs.com

I'm working on a school project and was wondering what the predators of the Oklahoma Brown Tarantula are. Please reply quickly if you know.
  • Erich - 2016-07-03
The number one predator would be the tarantula/pepsis wasp

Hello to whoever reads this. I need help. My Pinktoe, Aphrodite, is not exactly moving or eating. I got her new things for her cage and she is staying by one of them huddled up between that and the glass and isn't moving much. I have bought crickets but can't feed them to her because she won't eat them. I am misting her cage every so often so it has the right humidity and its up to 76°(says the thermometer in the middle of her cage), and I'm sure she is preparing to molt, I'm so sure but I just want to check so I don't psych myself out. She hasn't built a web yet which I heard is what they usually do. Please help me out, anybody. Reply or e-mail me. Thank you so much.
