I currently have one of these with a ocellaris clown fish, a small piccasso trigger, a yellow tang, a medium blue jaw trigger, a powder brown tang, a kole yellow eye tang, a sailfin tang, a naso tang, a blue tang, a juvenile koran angel, a cleaner wrasse, a female bird wrasse, a saddle vallentini puffer, a niger trigger, a small marine betta, and a very small/skinny snowflake eel. They all get along perfectly fine, and yes even the triggers and neon velvet damsel.

About a week ago we added the cute yellow tail blues damsels to our existing collection of a yellow tang, skeleton gobie, star fish and a boxing shrimp.
All was well until a couple of days ago when one of the damsels was picked on by the other two. This lead to stress and even with isolation eventually death. But .... this is not all, now the other two have been swimming on there sides (flirting with each other)????? as we see it. Also they seem to change colour of their beards to a light grey?!?!? This only lasts for the same time as the flirting is going on..

Can anyone help but shedding light onto this?

I have had my yellow tail damsel for over 8 years now! Very docile to all the fish who have come and gone, and has outlived all other fish. Mine has never been aggressive to any other fish (or any other creature including starfish) but has been bullied.

Should I be concerned over my domino turning gray, almost whitish even? I'v got three and they all seem to be turning pale. But they're all eating and moving fine. Thanks!

The domino I had also did this on occasion. I found out it was normal for them. Different situations and moods. He would be dark one minute and lighter the next. I kept searching for ICH since he was my first saltwater fish but it wasn't that. I finally had to get rid of him as he wouldn't even tolerate the corals I tried to place, lol. He would push them off the ledge every time. Have you heard the grinding growling noise they make yet?

Mine is large, have had him for about a year and a half now and I too have heard the grunting/growling noise he makes, I hear him chasing the other fish around but luckily they are smaller and faster so he kinda gives up or gets mad lol, I would like to capture a vid to share with everyone... that will be my task for the next few days :)

I bought a Four striped damsel, Blue devil Damsel, and yellow tail blue damsel all together... The four Stripe and blue devil swim around the cage like best buddies while the yellow tail has hid in the corner under my live rock since I have had him, Last night was the first time I seen him come out into the open, and that was with the lights off. There has been no aggression at anytime from any of the 3 since I have had them.

In many ways, this fish will simplify your tank and save you money--because you'll stop buying anything he can destroy or kill. It was one of the first fish I bought when a started a salt tank. He was so small and cute and colorful. "Jaws" is now close to 6". This is definitely a fish with OCD. He can't stand change. If I put a new small pebble anywhere in my large tank, he will knock it off--and will literally try to push it out of the tank by trying to nose it up to the top. Jaws lives with a clownfish, a small yellow tailed damsel, a small black and white striped damsel, and a yellow angel. And, THOSE he is fine with. All is peaceful. But if I tried to add anything else--an anemone, another fish, a coral, etc.--it would be destroyed or killed within five minutes. He's an AWFUL fish . . . but I love him (just like you would an old cranky uncle).

I have this fish and it has eaten one..two...three....four...well a lot of fish. He has been alive for about 4, or maybe 5 years. He has his own, 2 1/2 feet by about 2 feet tank. It still has neon blue stripes and is so territorial that it when I look at him he runs into the cave, as if he is protecting it. He probably has all of his dead corpse and bones from all of the other fish in there. It used to nibble my finger thinking it is food, but he is so smart that he just stares at it, and swims away. I am thinking of trying to train it to swim through hoops, just to see what he does. That guy is still staring at me, right at this moment, begging me to feed him again after I fed him 2 minutes ago.

I like them very much but it is very incredible it is nowhere to find them in CHINA! along its coast do they inhabit naturally!

In a reef tank they are very active but seemingly not aggressive at all. They love to school from one corner to another, very attracting.

I've had a female blue devil for about six months now and she killed nearly every other fish in the tank except for a few shrimp and a bleny so I bought a snowflake moray but its not interested in the devil so today I got a male, he's awesome. They are very active, colorful and aggressive fish and I love em.

I was swimming yesterday in the coast and was wearing a colorful brown and orange dress. While swimming, I noticed a tiny little fish swimming around me and following me because he liked the colors on my dress. I decided to catch him and I took him home. Now I'm trying to research on this cute Sergeant Major Damsel. I love him && he seems to love me! (since he followed me home. lol.)

I love these fish too. They captured my heart while snorkeling in Bermuda. They are very friendly and like to swim along with you. I am concerned that your fish should be in his natural habitat rather than in a contained environment.
