Hello I'm really liking my Keyhole Angel also, I've had him a month he is shy and will come out to eat but when he see's people he goes back into hiding, but he gets along very well with my Domino Damsel, I'm gonna add a Kole yellow eye tang,or Tomini tang or two spot bristletooth tang I'm not sure yet.

Heniochus black/white/yellow bannerfish/ butterflys elongated dorsal fin is losing the filament. Gray patches on banner. Fish not as active today and did not eat. Checked ammonia, nitrate, phosforus. All normal. I do 5 gallon water changes on 75 gal every other day. The fin still has half of the filament on and the other half is just a thin bare thread.

Hi, did your heniochus recovered from its dorsal fin infection? if so what tretreatment did you use? hope you reply and the fish is well.
  • Fredy Villalon - 2014-09-01
Hi im having a similar problem and was wondering if he recovered? If so what treatment did you use? I hope you reply soon thanks.
  • Clarice Brough - 2014-09-04
This sound like a bacterial infection, like Tail and Fin Rot, which besides having disintegrating fins, can also show up with gray patches on the skin.
  • Nathan - 2014-09-21
Probably a bacterial infection. Make sure all your filtration is running smoothly and do daily 20% water changes until it clears up. Best of luck to your fish!

Remember: these fish are NOT moorish idols!!! I've never had these fish but I purchased a moorish idol (very similar looking fish) a month ago. They are EXTREMELY difficult! I've managed to keep him alive after 2 weeks of not eating, ick, and stress problems from my hawkfish. He is finally looking better but not worth the risk, not to mention these are half the price of moorish idols and MUCH easier to keep alive.

Sorry, im new to this, I thought I was filling out a profile or something. Anyway what I wanted to say was that I've had a falco hawkfish for nearly a year now. He's fine with all the fish that were in the tank before him, but rather agressive with the fish that came in after his arrival. He bullied the dottybacks to death, but gave up on the larger moorish idol after a few days, who ive had for a month now and is thriving. I recommended getting them after adding your smaller and more delicate fish. They eat shrimp but are usually good with shelled animals (hermit crabs, snails, etc.). They are great fish and I highly recommend them to anyone who has a tank with larger fish. (P.s., theyre not mean, it's just their nature. Just because you ate a hamburger for lunch yesterday doesn't make you mean because you ate 'the poor cow.' Just sayin)

These beautiful angelfish are omnivores, and eat a wide variety of foods in the wild. Adults in captivity do tend to be a picky, more so than juveniles. Try mixing up its food types, for example, try offering it some live mysis shrimp. Target feeding it may also help.

Hello Can I have a flame angel with a koran angel in the same tank as a 500 Lt? Some of you have any experience?

I would say probably just because the flame angel is a dwarf and the koran is not, but be careful. If they are close to the same size they may be aggressive towards each other.

I just purchased one today and I must say that it is a stunning fish to have in the tank. If you want to keep one, make sure your tank is large enough and you have plenty of rockwork for it to hide in. It doesn't come out much because that's not in it's nature, but when it does....WOW!
