I have a Zebra Finch that has developed a red skin tag on its face. What can I do for it? Is it o.k?

I used to have a male and female zebra finch named stitch and lilo. They were hyper but graceful pets. My finches died. I got lilo and stitch from PETS+ but for now it is out of business. I always loved to watch lilo and stitch fly around in my grandma's dining room because there was not enough room in that crampy old cage that my grandmother bought. I was trying to tell her that there was going to be no room in the cage and I thought that we needed to buy a more roomy cage for lilo and stitch. I love everyone who loves Dr. Jungle!

I currently have 3 zebra finches, 2 females and one male, the two females have been sharing the same cage and seem to be inseparable, the male is in his own cage currently. One of the females is in the middle of laying and I was wondering whether I could eventually put the male in with them, and if so at what point? Or is having an odd number of birds going to cause a problem?

The females my fight over the one male you will need another male and the females eggs won't hatch as the male was not with them and when you stick them together watch them ok so they don't fight.

Yes that happened to me too. When my female society died she left behind 3 eggs and I already had a female zebra finch and she shoved 1 of the eggs out and ate it. Talk about cannibalism.

Are you sure they are killing the babies? Do you have them in a nest with privacy and soft material such as dryer lint and bermuda grass for them to build a proper nest. Make sure there is plenty seed. German millet is required as the primary seed in a mix. (German Millet is extremely important) (sometimes referred to as foxtail millet or Golden German Millet). They need egg food everyday. Boiled eggs are excellent. Boil the eggs at least 30 minutes and chop up by hand or in a food processor. Give them the whole egg, shell and all. They will use the shell for calcium. Be sure and boil the eggs at least 30 minutes. Very small grit should be made available.

I started my Finch adventure indoors, with only 4 finches. That was 3 1/2 years ago. I now have over 150 finches in an outdoor aviary. They are beautiful. I give many away to friends to keep the number down. The aviary is about 10X10 ft and about 8 ft tall. The variety for colors and personalities are just beautiful. I'm so thankful my husband built this aviary for me. I love the song they sing. It is so sweet and gentle.

No! the Zebra finch hen is easily disrupted by other zebra finches in this period, let alone another breed. As an experienced zebra finch breeder I really discourage this.
