French Molt causes problems with the birds plumage. The actually cause is unknown but it is most often contracted by young birds, possibly transmitted by infected parents. There is not a known cure to date, but adding vitamin supplements to the birds food may help.

Feathers can change color somewhat with molts as they age. Also a disruption to the nutrition of a bird during the time when feathers are being formed can cause color change and can also affect the quality of feathers. With a corrected diet, it will molt back to its original coloration. Beyond malnutition they can also have a liver disease and certain viruses can also cause abnormal feathers; however, this is not a common occurrence. If you think it is more than a molt or a nutritional issue, then you will want to take the bird to a veterinarian for a checkup.

Ludovic Lim Hoc - 2013-11-13
Hi I would like to know if it is possible to mate a female blue masked with a green fischer and if the babies will reproduce later on? Thanks

Yes, these are both eyering species so cross-breeding is definitely possible, and the young will also be fertile. Although the young are attractive birds their colors do tend to be duller and less striking than the pure forms of their parentage.
