Millipora sp.

At first glance this doesn't look anything like a typical
fire coral. Most are highly branched like small bushes. As it turns out
though, there is an encrusting type of fire coral and this is it! Fire
corals sting when touched and should not be handled without gloves.
This is not a true stony coral, but it resembles them enough
to put them here. They are actually hydrozoans, which are closely related
to jellyfish!
Description:
Fire corals are usually cream to mustard brown and have
white edges. The encrusting kind as shown above is light green with a white
sheen. It almost looks like a velvet coral.
Lighting - Water flow:
Likes medium to strong water movement. Prefers
medium to strong light. Grows best in stronger currents and stronger lights.
Difficulty of Care:
Although I haven't found anything on the encrusting
type, the branching type of fire coral is said to grow very quickly and
will adapt to lots of different conditions . It can be recommended
to beginners.
Aggressiveness:
They do sting when touched, so be careful.
They also sting other corals that come in contact with them.
